Claire studied Design and Illustration at Barking College in East London, which gave her the great grounding in composition and colour theory that, in recent years, has helped her enormously with her work.
Claire has always loved painting and drawing, and as a teenager she was never bored – she would sketch and paint anything from David Bowie album covers to everyday objects around her, although Claire cites that her best work has always come from her imagination.
Ancient Japanese legend tells of Koi fish swimming relentlessly upstream against the water’s flow, representing strength in a time of adversity. The Koi then leap up a waterfall and are transformed into a dragon which in itself represents strength and good fortune. Clair has taken inspiration from this legend to create her latest collections of Koi artwork.
